Onboarding Procedures: Volunteer

Welcome to the volunteer team! Please complete all of the following onboarding tasks and let the Director that is onboarding you know when you are finished.


1. Read through Staff & Volunteer Handbook


2. Complete Internal Onboarding Forms:
  • Complete Onboarding jotform
  • Submit Vaccination Policy Acknowledgment form

3. Send an email to the Director that is onboarding you that you have completed the onboarding and vaccination policy acknowledgement. They will then be authorized to run your background check.
 
4. Complete your background check via Proforma Screening. This will come via email, and may end up in your spam folder. Let the Director that is onboarding you know if you do not get an email to do your background check. 


5. Once your background check is cleared, you supervisor will get you set up on these apps/platforms:
  • Slack - how we communicate as a team internally. You will get an email to join our Slack server. Please set up your profile with your name, pronouns, email, phone number, and a photo. 
  • Gmail - how we access documents and communicate externally. This is only for some staff/volunteers that need access to documents and communicate externally. If you get a Gmail account, please set up your Gmail profile including your phone number and photo, and also update your email signature using this guide. 

*Please monitor your email to ensure the above tasks are completed in a timely manner. If you don’t see these come through within a week of completing your onboarding forms, please contact your supervisor! 


6. Once your profile is setup, introduce yourself on Slack on the #org-wide-everyone channel. 
  • Name, pronouns, chapter city, volunteer position, and other info about yourself that you want to share 

7.  Attend all required trainings for your role: 
  • Allysk8 (mandatory for all volunteers)
    • Attend the next upcoming virtual Allysk8 training on Zoom 
  • If there is no upcoming AllySk8 scheduled, watch the last recorded AllySk8
  • Camp Training
    • Attend the Virtual Camp training on Zoom 
    • Attend local IRL training as scheduled by your local Chapter Director
  • Skate Facilitation 
    • If you are a new skate facilitator, connect with your local Chapter Director to ensure you are trained on how to facilitate skate instruction
  • Heads Up Concussion Training 
    • Instructions on how to setup and complete this training
    • This training will be completed on your own time
    • Email certificate or screenshot of completion page to your supervisor once completed. You do not need to print this. ​

1. Read through Staff & Volunteer Handbook


2. Complete Internal Onboarding Forms:
  • Complete Onboarding jotform
  • Submit Vaccination Policy Acknowledgment form

  • Gusto - how you log your hours, access your w2, and more. You will get an email to sign your offer letter, complete hiring paperwork, and be added to payroll. ​
    • We are paperless! Change your w2 settings to digital and not paper!
  • Slack - how we communicate as a team internally. You will get an email to join our Slack server. Please set up your profile with your name, pronouns, email, phone number, and a photo. 
  • Gmail - how we access documents and communicate externally. This is only for some staff/volunteers that need access to documents and communicate externally. 7. Complete all required Government documents: 
  • Ensure all documents are completed digitally on Gusto and your direct deposit information has been entered (you will not be paid if not!) 
  • Meet in person with your direct supervisor to fill out W-4 & I-9
    • Bring 2 forms of government identification as listed here on page 3
 
8. Attend all required trainings for your role: 
  • Allysk8 (mandatory for all staff)
    • Attend the next upcoming virtual Allysk8 training on Zoom 
  • If there is no upcoming AllySk8 scheduled, watch the last recorded AllySk8
  • Camp Training (mandatory for all camp staff)
    • Attend the Virtual Camp training on Zoom 
    • Attend local IRL training as scheduled by your local Chapter Director
  • Skate Facilitation (mandatory for all skate facilitators and camp staff):
    • If you are a new skate facilitator, connect with your local Chapter Director to ensure you are trained on how to facilitate skate instruction

    • This training will be completed on your own time, and you can log up to 1 hour for this training.
    • Email certificate or screenshot of completion page to your supervisor once completed. You do not need to print this. 
  • CPR/First Aid (mandatory for all staff):
    • If you are already currently certified - Send your supervisor an email with your valid CPR / First Aid certification. Email certificate or photo of card to your supervisor. You do not need to print this. 
    • If you are NOT currently certified - please communicate to your supervisor so you can be invited to the virtual training. This training will be completed on your own time, and you can log up to 4 hours for this training. Note: In-person portion of the training is optional, the only requirement is the online certification.
