YOUTH EMPLOYMENT SKATEBOARDING (Y.E.S.)

​The Y.E.S. Program gives teens ages 13-18 local to Seattle, Portland and the SF Bay Area the opportunity to gain professional skills through skateboarding and make a positive impact in their community, all while earning service hours.

What is the time commitment for YES?

The YES Program commitment involves attending orientation, workshops, and trainings, as well as contributing at least 40 hours of volunteer service to support Skate Like a Girl activities during the Summer. Participants can expect to log a minimum of 50 hours total, including 40 hours in person at programs and events, along with about 10 hours dedicated to trainings, workshops, and other activities. 

General Timeline of the Program

• Applications open January 2026
• April 15th: Applications due 
• April-May: Interviews, onboarding, workshops, and team building
• June-August: Volunteering at programs & events
• August/September: End of Service Celebration Skate Trip

Volunteer Opportunities

• Summer Camps (Monday-Friday)
  • Hours vary between 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM depending on the day/location
• Community events & skate meetups
• Women and/or Trans Sessions
  • ​Women, Trans, Non-binary, and/or gender expansive identifying YES members only)
