Women &/or Trans Sessions Community Agreements

We appreciate you reading through this document carefully before entering! Let us know if you have any questions!

This is an exclusive space for women, trans, non-binary &/or gender non-conforming skaters:
  • All identities other than cisgender men are welcome at Women and/or Trans Sessions!
  • To our cisgender male allies: We’d love to see you at our all gender programs such as community meetups, shop hangs, allysk8 workshops, and more. We appreciate you stepping back tonight and allowing this space to be for women and/or trans people exclusively.

Pre-Registration is required:
  • For everyone’s safety, we have a limited capacity of participants per hour for Women and/or Trans Sessions. All participants must register in advance. Visit www.skatelikeagirl.com/register  to sign up!
  • Financial Aid is available to any skater in need. Visit skatelikeagirl.com/financialaid to apply!

Basics of the Space
  • Consent is key! Our staff and volunteers ask all participants to join us in a culture of consent, including asking for permission before touching, filming, trick tipping, etc.
  • Our spaces feature gender neutral bathrooms. Ask a Skate Like a Girl staff or volunteer if you need help finding the bathroom.
  • We encourage our participants to bring their own water, however, our spaces do also feature a water cooler or complimentary cans of Liquid Death. Ask a Skate Like a Girl staff or volunteer if you need help finding water.
  • First aid is located at the front counter.
  • Do your best to observe the order of who is skating what obstacles and how you fit into it. Be attentive about who hasn’t had a turn and allow everyone to have a turn in the rotation.
  • If you borrow any pads or helmets please make sure those items are returned so they can be sanitized for the next skater.
  • If your board shoots away from you, yell “BOARD!” as loud as you can to make sure others have an opportunity to get out of the way of it and avoid injury.
Lesson Sessions vs. Open Skate Sessions
  • Although the 1st and 2nd sessions are also open to all skill levels of skaters, beginner skaters receiving instruction will have priority in the space. We ask that advanced skaters yield to lessons, and do not skate aggressively on the same obstacles, weave between beginners, or ask them to move from the obstacles they are learning on.
  • At the end of the session, we provide open skate where there are no lessons and more advanced skaters are prioritized. We ask that beginner skaters yield to more advanced skaters during open skate.

Media
  • We often have people taking photos or videos at our sessions. If you would prefer to not be in any media that we share out please let one of our staff members know, or tell the photographer directly!
  • If you take photos or videos during the night, please ask for consent first and always tag us in them on instagram so that we can repost them on our page! @skatelikeagirlsea @skatelikeagirlpdx @skatelikeagirlsfbay are our local handles!

Skate Like a Girl
Spectators Policy

Thank you for your interest in attending Skate Like a Girl Sessions to support a special skater in your life. Here are a few ground rules we have for spectators at our programs:

  • Many of the skateparks and spaces we operate in do not allow for spectators, due to building restrictions and/or lack of room. To be completely sure there is space for you to spectate, please contact your local chapter director prior to attending a program.

  • Many of our programs are exclusive spaces for women and/or trans skaters, or queer and/or trans skaters, and therefore spectators that do not share any of these same identities will be allowed to drop off skaters and check out the space, but will not be allowed to stay and watch for the duration of the class.

  • We highly recommend that spectators come during breaks between classes and/or during showcase to catch the action or film a clip of their skater.

  • We ask that all spectators stay outside of the skate park area until the class has ended. No spectator coaching or support will be allowed without prior approval from the local chapter director.

  • Unattended youth spectators are not allowed without prior approval from the local chapter director.

  • Any inquiries around spectating that come up day of, please connect with our onsite Program Manager.

NOTE: If you have any special requests or follow up questions, please contact your local chapter and we’ll do our best to accommodate. If it is within 48 hours of the program start or a weekend program, please plan to connect onsite with our Program Manager.
