In July of 2020 our Youth Advisory Board met up with Luca and Massimo from Seattle Skate Features and held a ramp building workshop! We built 2 ramps, one to donate and one to keep, and learned the secret to building a Quarter pipe that will fit in a normal sized vehicle and is NOT TOO STEEP! We are stoked on the final product. YOUTH EMPLOYMENT SKATEBOARDING
Our YES program has been temporarily suspended due to lack of in person programming. We hope to see you soon!
Skate Like a Girl's Youth Employment Skateboarding (YES) Program is a one-of-a-kind skateboard-centric volunteer program providing a fun and unique leadership opportunity for teens to make a positive impact in their community. Cohort members earn service hours by teaching skateboarding lessons, running skate events, taking photo/video, as well as various other opportunities. It’s also a perfect opportunity to build your resume, make new friends, and support your local skate scene. YES members introduce thousands of people to skateboarding and support the mission of Skate Like a Girl, through accessible lessons, camps, and events. Since 2011, more than 200 teens have collectively donated more than 10,000 hours of time through the YES program. The YES program is open to middle school or high school students, roughly between the ages of 13-18. Members are tasked with volunteering a minimum of 50 hours. These service hours can be used for school, club, or other requirements. |
