Dear Skate Like a Girl registered camp families,

We hope that you are healthy and staying safe during these challenging times. This is an unprecedented time and we’d like to thank you for your patience as we work through new challenges this pandemic has presented. Below is an update on the status of our plans for skate camp this summer.
As you know, local officials in our 3 chapter cities are starting to put forth plans for various businesses reopening. While deadlines and recommendations seem to be changing daily, our plan to run in-person summer programming has been amended. We have made the tough call to not host in-person programming this summer, and we are letting you know first.

Instead, we will be offering an adapted at-home skate camp program to ensure that youth can still receive the following benefits:
  • Learn to skateboard safely
  • Connect with a caring mentor
  • Have access to a skateboard
  • Understand the values of Skate Like a Girl through our unique SHRED curriculum
  • Receive a camper t-shirt

Our entire team is working hard to iron out the details for our contactless skate camp experience, and in order to make it as best as possible, we are requesting your feedback on the best ways to serve your children. Our goal is to provide an experience that is engaging, youth-centric, and in-line with Skate Like a Girl’s mission to create an inclusive community by promoting confidence, leadership, and social justice through skateboarding.

Please take a few minutes to complete this survey: https://bit.ly/camp20survey

We are committed to providing the following options in regards to your existing camp registration:
  • Maintain registration and participate in adapted at-home skate camp program
  • Transfer payment to a donation, to ensure Skate Like a Girl remains a community resource for years to come
  • Transfer payment to a gift card, to buy merchandise or purchase a future Skate Like a Girl program (example: Skate Camp 2021)
  • Complete cash refund (with option to cover our 3% processing fees)
  • Ability to “mix and match” the above mentioned options

Please stay tuned for the official form to transfer your existing in-person camp registration. We will send out this form as soon as possible. If you would like a refund at this time, we can honor your request immediately, in line with our existing refund policy.

If you are in the financial position to do so, we encourage you to avoid the cash refund option. 50% of our generated revenue is from fee-based programs such as skate camp, which make our free programs for high-needs children possible. By keeping your funds within our organization, you are ensuring that Skate Like a Girl will continue to serve the whole community, not just kids who can afford it. Skate Like a Girl is confident in our ability to sustain through this pandemic, and we look forward to skating with everyone in person as soon as we are able to.
We cannot thank you enough for your continued support and understanding.
